Mothers & Daughters

In the lead up to our shoot I kept thinking to myself why does this session feel different to others I’ve done before.  Unlike other sessions I’ve done, this one had a strong emotional affect on me. 

Once you become a mum yourself, you are firstly a mum. But every mother needs a mother, someone to remind her she always has her place, someone to guide and give advice and drive her crazy yet make her feel so loved.

I kept trying to imagine the images I’d like to capture when it hit me - I want to capture the photos my sister and I never got with our own mum. 

Ida and her daughters have each in their own way had an encounter with Breast Cancer. One family of three strong, smart women all going through the rollercoaster the disease brings, both for themselves and for each another. 

Luckily for me, this loving trio of courageous and proud Amazons were everything a photographer can ask for. 

It was my honor to document their time together. May the road ahead be of health and happiness. Thank you for letting me in and stepping in front of my lens 😍💜
